- The preferred lodging and yacht listed are subject to availability
- A refundable deposit of $700.00 ASAP much appreciated so that
the group may secure our 1st choice yacht/lodgings
- ESTIMATED COSTS are based on projected 2008 rate. There may
be slight increases which we'll announce long before departure
This is a 3 part active travel expedition with nights
in Quito at the start, mid-point and end.
- Galapagos and Quito are the core of the trip.
- For those who are unable to join the full expedition
please note: the Amazon & Andes are both optional
extensions. You are welcome to customize the program to fit
your schedule and budget. Costs may rise nominally for less
than 10 participants
- (Expect to master the Blue Footed Booby Pilates position
& Galapagos Tortoise yoga asana on this journey)
Part One - Amazon:
Apr 27 - Arrival in Quito.
Apr 28 - May 1: Fly to jungle for 3 night 4 day stay at Napo
Wildlife Center (http://www.napowildlifecenter.com/)
- Includes day & night guided active travel excursions,
all meals.
- Option to join indigenous people in daily life activities
- Piranha fishing, learn about medicinal plants etc...
$800.00 - 3N/4D jungle (and 2 nights in Quito, all transport,
most meals, daily pilates/yoga and adventure active travel excursions)
Galapagos Adventure Travel
Part Two - Galapagos:
The Beluga - luxury motor yacht. Kayaks and
snorkeling available.
ADDITIONAL COSTS: Wetsuits $30.00 extra for week's use and add
on $100.00 P.P. park entrance fee.
Expect moderate physical activity for active travel adventures.
Top level Naturalist onboard to lead trips & discussions space
for 16 DB. Single cabins available for extra cost.
Galapagos is the dream destination of naturalists, wildlife lovers
and photographers. Private charters are a more intimate, preferable
way to cruise Darwin's enchanted archipelago than larger cruise
ships. May's a great time to visit. Less tourists and stable weather!
We may also have the opportunity to try our hand at wild life
drawing with guidance from artist Robert Reid of the Los Angeles
Natural History Museum!
- May 01 - After Amazon, back to Quito for free day. This is
also the day those NOT coming to the Amazon arrive in Quito
- May 02 - Flight to the Galapagos Islands start Beluga cruise,
8 cabins with private baths, excellent naturalist, great food,
nice deck for yoga/pilates - while at anchor. Cruise itinerary
available upon request
- May 09 - Arrival back at Quito hotel and take city tour
- Those not going on to Andes would spend the night in Quito,
then depart for home cities on May 10th.
7N/8D - $3,650 for those only joining the cruise. Cost includes
2 nights in Quito, city tour, flights to islands, all transfers,
1st class cruise.
Part Three - Andes Hacienda & Markets:
Hacienda & Markets 3N/4D, 1 night in Quito - $780.00 Hacienda
Pinsaqui, elegant & restful with access to famous marketplaces
and gorgeous countryside.
- May 10 - 13: Journey to the Northern Province of Imbabura.
Visit the famous market in Otavalo (approx. driving 2.5 hours
from Quito), Hike at the Cuicocha lake. Accommodation at Hacienda
Pinsaqui. http://www.haciendapinsaqui.com/
- Visits to indigenous communities. Active travel activities
to enjoy: horseback riding, massages, etc...at hacienda
- Night of May 13 in Quito
- May 14 - Transfer out for international flight
Option to stay on beyond this at Papallacta Spa Famous
for thermal springs, cabin lodgings, wonderful hikes near volcanoes.
